He's a licensed driver!!

Dane got his driver's license. He wasn't able to get it on his birthday, instead it wasn't until Jan. 13th. Apparently Fairfield DPS is only open one day a week (Wednesday) and just for a couple of hours. It was quite the ordeal. But, he's been driving for about six weeks and I am very confident in him. I was a little worried about this weekend. He was supposed to take Kathleen to Palestine for Valentine's Day, it would have been their first date, but her mom changed her mind so it didn't happen. I'd say he was disappointed, but I think he is getting used to it.
So, I no longer have a "child" that I am responsible for toting around. After almost 33 years I am only responsible for getting me around. It's wierd to be able to leave school when I want to and to be either early or on time in the mornings.

A New Milestone

Dane has one day left of being 15. We have everything ready for Friday...all the papers to submit for his driver's license, an insurance policy, and his 1985 truck. Starting next Monday I will drive to work by myself. Dane will drive to school by himself for the first time!! Exciting, yet sad. He is really growing up.

A new phase:

Here I sit, in the "shome" by myself on a Monday night. Bill has gone to San Antonio and Dane has gone to work. Yes!!!, I said work. My baby has a job. He is a bus boy for the new steak house here in Fairfield. You had to "know" somebody to work there it seems and the manager is sunshine's dad, who just happens to love to watch Dane play football. He hired him without an interview, that's how much he likes him. We'll see how this works out. Kelly got a job Friday. She is now the ESL kindergarten teacher at Barbara Bush Elementary. Her new apt./duplex is really cute. Her life is good. Well, guess I'll get back to my dinner....hmmmm, an omelet?

Sweet, sweet Friday. The end of the first six weeks, already! This year is going to go by fast, I can already tell.
No ballgames this week for the high school. Kind of nice to just take it easy. Dane is going on a lock in at Senors church tonight. Too bad, Bill cooked supper and it was awesome. Butterfly pork chops, baked potatoes, salad, and garlic bread. It was great.
Baseball games tomorrow. Back to back in Joshua.
I guess not much is happening.

Another Sunday

Another week gone by so fast. Dane had a good football game on Thursday (Eagles won) but his baseball game on Sunday was cancelled because the grounds are saturated. Still no bites on the house, haven't found the stolen trailer with the stolen pool on it, and we are still living in the shop. School is moving along smoothly, I only have one student failing and progress reports have gone out. Dane's gf Kathleen turned sixteen and in less than 4 months so will he.
Isn't this a great picture of Caleb? (#40)

pictures

on this day that I am so bummmed.....I will post some pictures of Dane, who always lights up my life.
He looks so cute in his football uniform. He was a co-captain at this game against Gatesville. Unfortunately, the game was cancelled at half-time because of lightning. I never saw football stands empty as quick as these did. But, we got to get to bed at a decent time.
I don't know how to rearrange these pictures so the after the haircut shots are coming up first and then we have the before the hair cut pictures. It was his idea to get his hair cut, said it was too much maintenance in the mornings. That makes me laugh.

not a good day

I'm only going to say that I have not been this depressed in years.
